The Study
To understand more about the symptoms of stress and stress
levels of
students, questionnaires are given out on every life skills
course for assessment. This includes the reasons for the stress as
well as understanding more about the symptoms.
The Findings
80%+ found it difficult /very
difficult to cope with exam pressure
70% + found it
difficult and a struggle to organise their time.
70% +
who admitted pressure at home created stress.
Other
causes of stress were teachers, homework, people at
school, family members, friends, course work, part-time
job,
relationships and money.
The most common symptoms
of stress were being angry
and annoyed 69%, lack of
concentration 61%.
Other symptoms experienced were frustration and fear of
failure, desire to escape, forgetfulness, insomnia and feeling
tearful and anxious.
After the Course
Over 94% found the course to be useful.76% felt more confident in themselves
87% felt they were much better and more able to cope with their stress.
86% had set themselves goals
